Building upon the initial efforts around the Michigan Avenue Corridor Conceptual Development Plan, several current initiatives, plans and projects are related to the Michigan Avenue Corridor project. Efforts around the creation of the Conceptual Development Plan have inspired an MSU Communication Arts professor to lead several classes through the compilation of information about the Michigan Avenue Corridor into a website called www.ourmichiganave.org. Visit www.ourmichiganave.org A Michigan State University Urban Planning class spent a semester assembling an impressive complete streets analysis that outlines improvements that should be made to the corridor for all modes of transportation. The study focuses on the immediate needs of pedestrians and bicycles. Dowload Complete Streets Analysis presentation and Complete Streets Analysis Report. Regional planning partners have recently completed the Cultural Economic Development Plan for the cities of East Lansing and Lansing. The plan calls for the Michigan Avenue to be an important Creative Business and Arts corridor. View CED Plan. The Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) is coordinating an effort with local governments, community groups and businesses to conduct a study examining ways to improve the seven-mile transportation corridor that includes Michigan and Grand River avenues. The study is a step toward enabling improved multi-modal transportation that supports, sustains and grows economic value along Michigan and Grand River avenues. The recommendations that come out of this transportation study would impact transportation, streetscape and land use along the Michigan Avenue Corridor. Visit www.migrtrans.org for more information.
